Model PSI–DFC 1 saves the user from the tedium of bubble formation, bubble watching, timing and flow-rate / time calculation. It achieves this by automating the process of bubble generation and sensing and by adding to the simplicity and versatility of a soap film bubble meter, the speed and accuracy of a microprocessor.  With its hands free operation, you have best of both the worlds; you can still see the bubble and also have an accurate quartz clock for timing and a digital display enhancing the precision of measurement. With DFC-1 you can accurately calibrate air sampling pumps (vacuum or pressure), rotameters, orifices etc quickly and reliably with accurate and reproducible results.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION                                             

The DFC 1 gas flow calibrator operates on the principle of traditional soap film flow meter wherein a liquid soap bubble is used to track the gas flow through. The calibrator comprises a highly precise glass flow-cell with fixed volume and fitted with optical sensors. The time of flight of the soap bubble from first sensor to the second sensor is measured a quartz timer. The timer gets started when the bubble passes the first sensor and it stops when the soap bubble passes the second sensor. The microprocessor in the control unit computes  the flow rate and the same is displayed on a liquid crystal display.
